Class B 'Administrative' Uniform — Complete Purchasing Guide

What you need to buy for Class B, per the Class B Administrative Purchasing Guide (revised February 2024).

What Class B is for

Class B is the Administrative uniform — semi-formal dress for activities where there is no expectation of emergency response. Public relations, office work, fire prevention programs, training, meetings, special events. (Procedure 1502-2, revised May 2023.)

T-Shirt — White (worn under the white admin shirt)

• Short or long sleeve
• Crew neck
• No markings or logos
• Worn only with the white administrative Chief Officer shirt
• Long sleeve T-shirt shall not be worn with a short-sleeve Chief Officer shirt

T-Shirt — Dark Navy Blue (worn under the navy admin shirt)

• Short or long sleeve
• Crew neck
• Department-approved T-Shirt marking must conform to Uniform Policy Insignia Guidelines
• Color must closely match the Administrative shirt
• Shall not be worn with the white administrative Chief Officer shirt
• Long sleeve T-shirt shall not be worn with a short-sleeve administrative shirt

• White

Shirt — Administrative Navy Blue

• Midnight Navy Blue
• 100% Wool
• Short or long sleeve

Trousers — Administrative Navy Blue

• Midnight Navy Blue
• 100% Wool

Belt

• Black leather, 1¾″ only (note: this is wider than the 1½″ Class A belt)
• Basket weave
• Square-style buckle with center bar OR approved CAL FIRE logo belt buckle
• Gold-finish buckle (Chief Officer)
• Silver-finish buckle (Non-Chief Officer)
• Example: Chambers 7050-001 (1¾″)

The CAL FIRE logo belt buckle is Sun Badge Company, 2″ square, CAL FIRE typographic logo centered, gold (Chief) / silver (Non-Chief). Belt buckle must be purchased through an authorized CAL FIRE Local 2881 store — All Risk Uniforms is one.

Necktie (optional or as directed)

• Black, plain
• Tropical weave or similar to closely match uniform fabric
• 75% polyester / 25% wool recommended
• Sam Broome style 455 (3″)
• Windsor or 4-in-hand knot — pre-tied or snap-on permitted
• Regular or extra length

The female cross-over snap-tie option is Sam Broome TV (FG 101) (Optional Items Purchasing Guide).

Socks

• Black
• Fine weave
• Plain (no patterns or figures)

Footwear

• Black leather
• One-piece toe (without design or stitching)
• High-gloss finish

The female footwear option (Optional Items Purchasing Guide): plain leather, smooth finish, closed heel and toe, variable heel height ¾″ to 2″.

Female-only optional skirt (Optional Items Purchasing Guide)

• Black, 55% poly / 45% wool, gabardine or tropical weave, hemmed at mid-knee
• Flying Cross #4800SK

Class M (Maternity) — administrative version

Per Procedure 1502-8, pregnant employees may wear a maternity-modified version of the Class B uniform with customizable side panels and stretch-panel pants. See the Class M article for full options.
