What you need to buy for Class E, per the Class E Law Enforcement Response Uniform Purchasing Guide (revised October 2025).
Who Class E is for
Class E only applies to peace officers appointed under Penal Code Section 830.2. The uniform is for Primary Law Enforcement Duties — fire prevention coverage for a Unit/Program, or assignments such as patrol where the officer must be immediately prepared to affect an arrest or serve a warrant (per HB 9452).
If you are not a peace officer under PC 830.2, this uniform is not authorized for you.
T-Shirt — Dark Navy Blue
- Short or long sleeve, crew neck
- 100% heavyweight cotton (6.0 oz or heavier) OR Department-approved performance fabric
- Color must closely match the Nomex IIIA shirt
- Shall not be worn with the Chief Officer shirt
- Markings must conform to Uniform Policy Insignia Guidelines
- Long sleeve T-shirt shall not be worn with a short-sleeve admin shirt

Only Law Enforcement Officers may wear their rank insignia badge on the front of the Stratton hat.
