The buckle that finishes the kit. If you're building out a Class A or duty kit and you've gotten everything else right — patches sewn, brass aligned, name plate engraved — the wrong belt buckle is the thing that breaks the look. This is the one we stock because it's the one that matches.
What it actually is
Solid metal buckle with a slightly squared, rounded-corner profile. The face shows raised "CAL FIRE" lettering across a textured basketweave-pattern background, with engraved scrollwork accents at the corners. It's a real piece of metal — has the weight of a duty buckle, not the flimsy stamped feel of a costume version.
Two finishes, pick to match your brass
- Gold / Brass — pairs with gold buttons (Class A coats use Eureka brand gold buttons), gold rank insignia, and gold name plates. This is the most-ordered option for Class A and dress kits.
- Silver / Chrome — pairs with silver/nickel rank insignia and chrome accessories. Less common in CAL FIRE but spec'd by some adjacent agencies and certain L2881 chapters.
Match your buckle to your buttons and your rank insignia. If your jacket has gold buttons, you want the gold buckle. Mixing tones is the most common dress-uniform mistake we see at inspection time.
Sizing
Fits a standard 1.5" wide dress belt — the regulation duty/dress belt width. If you've got our basketweave belt or any standard 1.5" leather/nylon belt, this buckle pairs.
Care
Polish with a brass cleaner (Brasso or equivalent) for the gold finish. Chrome polish for the silver. Avoid abrasive cloths — the engraved details lose definition fast if you scrub. Wipe down after exposure to sweat or rain so it doesn't tarnish.
